Lobster grilling over charcoal at The Azuki Room

Our Story

From Japan to Chancery Lane

A hidden Japanese dining room built on fire, freshness, and craft. Halal meats, non-alcoholic sake, and a kitchen that runs on charcoal from open to close.

The Journey

Our Story

This story begins with a trip to Japan, a journey that shaped everything we wanted to build. From smoky yakitori alleys to quiet sushi counters, we were inspired by the simplicity, precision, and respect for ingredients that define Japanese dining.

When we brought the concept back to London, the real work began. Building something authentic in feeling, while staying true to our standards, was never simple. We searched for the right ingredients, tested constantly, and refined every detail to make it work in our own way.

Finding the right balance was the biggest challenge: sourcing fresh daily produce, working with high-quality halal meats, and introducing non-alcoholic sake that still feels true to the experience we wanted to create.

From that process, The Azuki Room was born, a space built on fire, freshness, and craft. Charcoal yakitori, sushi made to order, and a dining style that evolves through the day and into the night.

A place where Japanese technique meets a modern London rhythm.

Halal Credentials

Built for inclusivity, without compromise

Every dish at Azuki Room is prepared using halal, non-alcoholic ingredients. Our meats are sourced from certified halal suppliers, and our kitchen is built around that standard from the ground up, not as an adaptation.

Our bar follows the same principle. Sake has always been part of the Japanese dining ritual, so we worked to find a non-alcoholic sake that still carries the body, texture, and place at the table we wanted. Alongside it sits a mocktail and tea list built for the same experience.

The goal was always the same: a Japanese dining room that is authentic in feeling, open to everyone, and uncompromising on quality.

Our Food

Four Pillars

Our food is built around four pillars, each designed to bring a different expression of fire, freshness, and precision.

Small Plates

小皿

Small plates set the tone of the experience. Light, seasonal dishes inspired by Japanese flavours, created for sharing and designed to open the palate without overwhelming it.

Yakitori

焼き鳥

Yakitori is at the heart of what we do: skewers grilled over charcoal, cooked to order, and served straight from the flame. Simple cuts, carefully seasoned, and focused on depth of flavour through technique rather than complexity.

Robatayaki

炉端焼き

Robatayaki brings a deeper, more expressive side to the grill. Larger cuts, vegetables, and seafood are cooked over open fire, where smoke, heat, and timing create bold, layered flavours.

Sushi

寿司

Sushi completes the experience with balance and restraint. Freshly prepared throughout service, it reflects precision, seasonality, and respect for the ingredient at its purest form.

Together, these four elements define The Azuki Room: fire, freshness, and craft, brought together in a way that feels both authentic and uniquely ours.
