Halal & Dietary

Is The Azuki Room halal certified?

Yes. Every dish on the menu is prepared with halal, non-alcoholic ingredients. All meat is sourced from certified halal suppliers, and we keep no alcohol in the kitchen or behind the bar.

Do you serve alcohol?

No. The Azuki Room is fully non-alcoholic. Traditional Japanese dishes that typically use mirin, sake or shoyu containing alcohol are made with non-alcoholic substitutes that preserve the flavour without compromising halal integrity.

Is the soy sauce halal?

Yes. We use a non-alcoholic shoyu specifically chosen so that every dish, dressing and dipping sauce remains halal.

Do you have vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options?

Yes. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are marked V and VG on the menu, gluten-free is marked GF. Our yakitori and small plates have a strong plant-based selection. Please flag any allergies or specific requirements when booking so the kitchen can prepare.

How do you handle allergies?

Tell us when you book and again when you arrive. We will brief the kitchen and table service. Cross-contact is minimised but not eliminated, as the same charcoal grill and sushi bar serve all dishes.

Booking & Visiting

How do I book a table?

Reservations are managed through OpenTable, available on the Reservations page. For larger parties or anything bespoke, email info@theazukiroom.com or call 0207 123 6628.

Do you take walk-ins?

Where exactly are you?

Yes, Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 15:00. Dinner runs from 17:00, with later kitchens Thursday through Saturday. We are closed for lunch on Saturday and closed all day Sunday.

How late are you open?

Our late licence runs until 02:00 on Friday and Saturday, and 01:00 on Thursday. The full kitchen serves until midnight on these nights, with a lighter snacks menu after.

What is the dress code?

Smart casual. We prefer guests not to wear sportswear or shorts in the evening service.

Are children welcome?

Yes, children are welcome at lunch and during early dinner sittings. After 21:00 we keep the dining room adults-only to preserve the late-evening atmosphere.

Is the restaurant accessible?

The main dining room is at street level with step-free entry. The Azuki Lounge is on the lower ground floor accessed by stairs only — please contact us in advance if you need step-free access to the lounge so we can advise.

The Dining Experience

What kind of restaurant is this?

An intimate 30-cover Japanese izakaya specialising in charcoal yakitori and robatayaki, with a live sushi bar in the evenings and a focused ramen menu at lunch. The space is closer to a Tokyo backstreet dining room than a high street restaurant.

How long is a typical meal?

Plan for around 90 minutes for a full evening service. Lunch ramen is faster, around 45 minutes. We can accommodate longer sittings for celebrations on request.

Do you offer a tasting menu?

Our à la carte is designed to be shared. For bespoke tasting menus, omakase counter experiences or chef's table arrangements, email info@theazukiroom.com.

Do you cater for celebrations?

Yes. Birthdays, anniversaries and engagements are all welcome — let us know in your booking notes and we will help arrange the evening.

Private Events

Can I hire the whole restaurant?

Yes. The main restaurant accommodates up to 30 seated plus standing space, with the live sushi bar and charcoal grill at the heart of the room. Email info@theazukiroom.com for availability and packages.

What is The Azuki Lounge?

Our lower ground floor space, separately licensed late, with a 50 to 60 guest capacity. Designed for private parties, DJ-led nights, brand events and social gatherings. Available alongside or independently of the main restaurant.

Do you offer set menus for groups?

Yes. We tailor set menus around the yakitori counter, robata grill or sushi bar depending on the occasion. Get in touch with the date, group size and any dietary notes and we will send options.
